Logan Adams
Founder & Host

My name is Logan, and this inn represents my family’s legacy, years of hard work, and a commitment that was put to the ultimate test. My parents, Kelly and Howard Adams, were among the first in Saint Joseph to see value in the properties around Silver Beach. In the early days, they took a risk, acquiring nine lakeside rentals. They poured themselves into each one, painting them in bright, bold colors and giving each house its own unique personality. The names—The Boat House, The Doll House, The Light House, The Fun House—became known and loved by visitors and the community alike, each one a piece of my parents’ dedication and creativity.

Their love for the area ran so deep that, when I was born, my parents named me after Logan Drake, the founder of Silver Beach. They admired his vision and entrepreneurial spirit—the same values they carried with them as they worked to build a life here. Not long after, that life took an unexpected turn. My mom encountered health issues that eventually left her disabled, and my parents made the decision to let go of most of the properties. Unfortunately selling them off just before property values skyrocketed. It was a tough loss they never quite got over, but it allowed us to spend invaluable time together as a family. In the end, only one property remained—“The Fun House.” This was the last piece left of the dream my parents had built together. After seeing their vision of Saint Joseph become a reality, they held on to it no matter what. If they hadn’t, who knows what might have happened next, because this property soon became our saving grace.

When the market took a turn for the worse, we lost the house I grew up in and moved into The Fun House during my senior year of high school. Kelly and Howie lived together in the lower unit, and they generously allowed me to stay in the upper unit on my own. It was honestly a teenager's dream come true. However, I knew we were still struggling, so I decided we couldn’t afford not to rent out my half. My parents weren’t happy about it at first, but only because they wanted me to be happy. I did so well my first year that I was able to pay off a large portion of their debt. They even enjoyed being part of the guest experience! This old house allowed me to help my family financially and hone my business skills. Little did I know how far this small venture would go or how important this chapter was for the rest of the story.

In 2020, my dad, Howard, was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. He passed away not long after. With my mom unable to work or help manage the property, all responsibilities fell entirely to me. At 22 years old, I was not only grieving but also facing a difficult choice: let go of the legacy or find a way to keep it going. I decided to give everything I had to the property, rebranding it as The Silver Beach Inn. I poured in long hours, sleepless nights, and every bit of creativity, persistence, and grit I could muster to make it a place people would want to experience. It was sink or swim. Every detail here reflects not just a business but a tribute to my parents’ original vision, the resilience they passed on to me, and my own determination to continue the legacy. The transformation wasn’t easy, but every moment of hard work has been worth it.

Today, The Silver Beach Inn stands as more than a vacation spot. It’s a place shaped by decades of dedication, love, and the hard-won victories of a family that refused to let go of a dream. I’m honored to share this legacy with every guest who walks through our doors. A resounding thank you to those who stepped up to help in our time of need, and thank you for being part of our story.
